As a mixed-media artist, I find joy in experimenting with a variety of processes and materials. Whether I am collaging, printmaking, papermaking, wheel throwing, or painting, there are reoccuring ideas that emerge in my work. Some of these ideas are oxidation, deterioration, branching, texture, and ephemerality. I am fascinated by the systems of nature and am intrigued by the human species’ relationship to the rest of the natural world. Through artistic investigation, I am able to better grasp scientific concepts, the way systems work, sustainability, and infinity. Aesthetic discovery through art helps me understand the materiality of the world and consider the ways to responsibly manipulate it. Each medium and its properties lead me to a different visual outcome. Both medium and process are integral to meaning.
